The UP Portia Sorority, being the only duly-recognized law-based sorority in the UP College of Law has consistently held itself as a sorority imbued in not only academic excellence but also social and cultural consciousness. In its quest to be a truly responsive and responsible sisterhood, Portia has been known to support a variety of activities which cater to not only the entire law population, but people outside the walls of Malcolm Hall as well, such as medical missions, fundraising activities, and symposia about relevant social issues. The Sorority has also continued its advocacy for the arts, by annually sponsoring film showings, theatrical plays, and art exhibits.
Every year, in time with the celebration of its anniversary week, the UP Portia Sorority releases its literary folio, Parole. It is an annual collection of artistic works, ranging from literature to photography, by students of the college. Recently, the folio has welcomed submissions from non-law students as well, in an effort to provide an avenue for expression and creativity for the UP community. The launch of the literary folio is held at the sorority’s yearly event, the Poetic Sojourn, where students of the College of Law showcase their literary flair through the rendition of poems and songs.
